PORTRAIT & EDITORIAL
STANDING ROCK | the DAKOTA ACCESS PIPELINE | SEPTEMBER & NOVEMBER 2016
The following photos were taken the night before peaceful water
protectors were assaulted by law enforcement with water
canons, rubber bullets and grenades, in below freezing temperatures.
After taking this photograph of the sun setting over the canon ball river, after the sun went below the hills, i felt in my soul that we needed to leave a day early. 24 hours later, just as i walked through my door in Louisville, my news feed was flooded with the torture of my people, the smiling faces i saw the night before were running in terror, pepper spray and tear gas running down their faces. the creator saved me from something i wouldn't have been able to handle up close, he led me home.
